PS Creation Presents Lockdown 'e' Dil-Down: A Quarantine Short

The novel coronavirus and its effects have been affecting people across the world and apart from daily wage earners, if there is one sector that has been really caught in the midst of the pandemic, it has to be that of artists. This has given rise to several artists coming up from all over the world to combine and bring to the fore their talent in the form of Quarantine Movies. The first of which we had seen from the Bollywood stars, has now taken a new shape and come into the world of Tollywood.

PS Creation, in a new venture, has brought together well-known names from Tollywood under one roof in his candidly conversational romantic comedy, Lockdown 'e' Dil-down!

Story Synopsis:

There is a worldwide lockdown.

But, what about love?

Well, love is like a flowing river, a flying bird. You can't put it in quarantine!

Let's embark upon this journey and see what will happen to this love and whether it would find its destination or not.

Design By: Indranil Sengupta

Written and Directed by Antaheen Partha, the cast and crew of this short include the very talented  Debraj Mukherjee, Tanusree Goswami, Ridhish Chowdhury, Boni Mukherjee, Sovan Roy, and Labani Mondal. Edited by Subha Bhattacharjee, this film has its music in the form of Dolaan-Mainaakk's magical theme song and background score. The other two retro songs sung in the movie are re-arranged by Prithwish Kumar Basu and sung by him and Labani Mondal.

The director of the movie calls it a movie that opposes the ideal idea of love and stirs it up by adding elements that state it's okay to love even without seeing or knowing the person. He also wants to make a special mention for all those family members who have helped the artists make the movie with their amazing skills behind the camera and support. Without them, this wouldn't have been possible.

With views slowly inching towards the 1000 mark, this movie is all set to release in the upcoming weeks.

We hope to see all of you in your homes and make you fall in love with this laugh riot! Till then, enjoy the promo...

The Kolkata International book fair has always been the reason for nostalgia for every Bengali (read. Resident of Kolkata) ever. Starting from January 25th and running till February 5th, the Kolkata International Book Fair also hosts a 3 day long festival known as the Kolkata Literature festival. In a span of a month, Kolkata hosts 3 literature festivals and the Kolkata Literature festival is the only one that is hosted within the premises of the Kolkata International Book Fair at the Milan Mela Grounds, near Science City.

The focal theme country for the Kolkata International Book Fair 2017 is Costa Rica and the Kolkata Literature Festival 2017 would see authors from 10 countries such as Wales, Scotland, Australia, Egypt, USA, India, Bangladesh, Spain, France and of course Costa Rica holding around 25 sessions over the 3 days it is held. Each day would end on musical notes with performances by Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty on the 1st day, Dohar on the 2nd Day and Dona Ganguly on the final day.

Bestselling Indian authors like Chetan Bhagat, Durjoy Datta and Sudeep Nagarkar would be speaking on writing, being a writer and the trends in writing. On the other hand, the festival would also host sessions by eminent poets like Neel Hall and Nishi Chawla from the US. Speaking of foreign authors, in a session about identifying the readers, authors such as Khaled Al Khamissi, Vivek Shanbhag, Lin Anderson, Natalie Holborrow, Denes Gazsi would be speaking on an author’s approach towards writing a novel.

This year, a special initiative has been taken titled “The valley The City and The Village” where authors from Wales would be visiting Kolkata and authors from Kolkata would be visiting Wales and they would be writing down their experiences in the form of short stories which would later find its place in a book to be published in India and the UK. Natalie Ann Holborrow, Sion Tomos Owen and Sophie Mcknead, Gary Raymond, Esha Chatterjee and Kaberi Roychowdhury would be seen discussing on the same.

On the current hot topic of discussion, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, transgender activist (Bigg Boss and Sach ka Saamna fame), Manabi Bandopadhyay, Sandip Roy and Penky Kenworthy would be having a session titled, “What do I do with my sexuality?”

The 3 day long festival would be inaugurated by French ambassador and Costa Rica representative, Sankha Ghosh followed by a musical performance by the Calcutta School of Music. Promising a great time to the art and literature enthusiasts, the Kolkata Literature Festival 2017 packs off with a super schedule from 2nd February to 4th February. So, do not miss the festival.

Bengaluru Poetry Festival 2016: bringing poetry to the world!

They say that poetry is the essence of life and that without poetry life cannot be explained. There was once this time when poetry used to be the soul of every being but then books took over and poetry somewhere fizzed out. I feel glad to be in this industry during a time when poetry is coming back in form and that too in a way, never to go back again.
Media Coverage

The Bengaluru PoetryFestival 2016 was a celebration on poetry, for poets, of poets. Held in one of the finest places of the city, Leela Palace over the first weekend of August (6th and 7th August), Bengaluru saw the best of what the world of poetry had to offer. With the likes of Javed Akhtar and Piyush Mishra gracing the event on Day 1 and Day 2 respectively, there couldn’t have been a better place for all the poetry to be together as one.

The Bengaluru poetry festival 2016 was about all forms of art and not just limited to poetry. The festival had Poornima Kaushik who is an exponent of the Vazhuvoor styles of Bharatnatyam perform for the audience who was enchanted with the performance.

The audience also got to see Padma Bhushan Teejan Bai performing what she does best-Pandawani, which is basically a traditional form of performing art. With musical accompaniments by her side, age is not a matter for her because it is art that she lives for.

Since the festival was essentially a poetic affair, RainDrops Company (the publishing partner for the festival) launched its anthology titled Po’try. The best part about this particular collection of poems is that this collection was commissioned specially for the festival by the makers and the published poems a part of a competition held by the association and the publishing house across different social media channels. A total of 157 poets carefully chosen from different parts of the world and from different professions were introduced with this particular collection. A well critiqued actress and poetess, Kamalinee Mukherjee graced the occasion and launched the book.
The release of the poetry collection- Po'try

Kamalinee Mukherjee launching the book

Apart from so many activities happening in and around the festival, there were many workshops that were taking place for both the kids and the adults. These were specially conducted by various well known poets from the industry. Since the release of the collection of short poems by Bengaluru Poetry Festival 2016 and RainDrops Company happened at the venue, there has been a huge rise in the sales of the book, making the venture a huge success. After the festival wrapped up, the collaborators are looking forward to a new year full of new poetry to fill the soul.

The Conspiracy at Meru(VikramadityaVeergatha # 2)

VICTORY IS TEMPORARY. THE BATTLE IS ETERNAL.

Vikramaditya and his Council of Nine have fought valiantly to repel the rampaging hordes from Devaloka and Patala – but Avanti has been brought to its knees. Ujjayini lies battered its citizens are scared and morale is badly shaken. Meanwhile, the barbaric Hunas and Sakas are gathering on the horizon and cracks are emerging between the allied kingdoms of Sindhuvarta.

The only silver lining is that the deadly Halahala is safe. For now.

Bent on vengeance, Indra is already scheming to destroy Vikramaditya, while Shukracharya has a plan that can spell the doom for the Guardians of the Halahala. It is now up to SamratVikramaditya and his Council of Nine to quell the supernatural hordes – and prevent the universe from tumbling into chaos!

Excerpt
His tongue flicks out to touch his lips. Can he still taste blood?
His eyes flick to my lips, down to my throat, my breasts, lower, lower still. I'm close enough to see the golden flecks in his eyes shine. Smell that hard man smell of his which tugs at me. Heat from him spools towards me hitting me squarely in my chest, pulling at my stomach, churning my guts and I shudder.
His eyes widen, and as if unable to help himself, he lowers his mouth brushing my lips once, twice, thrice. Teasing me, nibbling at me, caressing my lips till I feel the heat inside twist and glow, till the lighting tree on my back sizzles, sparking fire.
I moan and reaching up capture his mouth with mine, thrusting my tongue against his; and feel the shock run through him.
He's still just for a second, then he's leaning into me, on me till I am surrounded by him, his touch, his skin, that cinnamon smell of his, which is so Vik. Heat from his body pushes at me, begging to be let in, holding me captive and I feel a trickle of sweat running down between my breasts. Breath coming out in short bursts, I strain against him, trying to free my shackled arms, but he doesn't let go. He also doesn't stop there.
His mouth lowers to my throat, pushing aside the bathrobe till he bares the curve of my shoulder, then bites me, lightly.
My heart slams against my rib cage at that, my eyes flutter shut and I bite my lips to stop myself from crying out. At the pain trembling down to my belly.
He kisses the skin, licking his tongue over the exact same spot and this time I shiver, but he's already trailing his lips down to my breasts. His hand grips the flare of my lips and this time, I moan aloud as his fingers splay out over my belly.
And it's as if the sound gets through to him, for he's suddenly leaning back.
My eyes fly open and I look up at his face, want to trace his lips, run my fingers through his hair and once again I arch my back, push against him and this time he lets me go.
Even as I watch a shutter comes down over his eyes and they lose that bright glow I'd seen there just a second ago.
I know then, he's going to leave and walk away and I can't let him go.
Not now, not when I can tell he's feeling something for me.
When my insides are churning as if this is the only thing that matters. When the emotions overwhelming me wipe out all that has happened before this, making me feel clean. When I don't care who he is, or where he comes from or what his real relation is to Dr B. When something inside me senses that deep at his core, where it matters, he is honest at least as far as whatever 'this' between us is concerned.
I want him.
And I want to make him want me.
Make him show me how much he wants me.

All of Me by Jonali Karmakar: a promotional Tour!

*~* Release Day Blitz *~*

Title: All of Me
Author:JonaliKarmakar
Length: 69 pages
Publication Date: May 29, 2016
ASIN: B01G0P8JGK

Book Blurb:
All of Me is a collection of thirteen little stories that have been gleaned from real life as well as imagination. Exploring a range of genres, these throb with everything primal to human nature: fear, angst, joy, love, and longing. Some stories are designed to elicit smiles, chuckles, and maybe even a belly laugh or two whereas some are meant as a reality check. Universal in nature, each story provides a glimpse of what women empowerment or a lack thereof can mean in a person’s life.
From a small hamlet in India to the roads of Australia; from a mother’s betrayal to a daughter’s confession; from an extra marital affair to a same sex relationship learn for yourself the what, how and whys.

Originally written for anthologies and ezines, these stories have been revisited and updated for this new collection.

Excerpts from stories in All of Me:

1

Instead there were so many questions that started to raise their bantam heads. Why did she drive the winding lanes into the past to warm herself? What was it that she was hoping to find? Had she really blamed Palash for naught? Over the years had she made him less a person who had lived and breathed and more the dream of one? It was not impossible what he had accused her of.
Ira looked at the man before her and matched him to her memories of him. They seemed two very different beings! Waves of humiliation washed over her until she was rigid with misery. The purpose of this trip was lost on her.

For a while she let his words run through her head like cool water on a headache and dared to examine her sentiments in the privacy of her thoughts. She let the long buried memories surface and in the one moment saw everything and wanted not to, wanted to make it go away, to unknow. In finding closure she had unearthed a truth that she wasn’t willing to face ever.

2

She liked her job. It was good. Brought in quick money.Left her enough hours for cramming her boring science papers. What else can one expect? There were quite a few perks too. Posh parties where cocktails, five star food and good contacts flowed uninterruptedly not necessarily in the same order. Whatever. It was fun.
Okay it wasn’t a job to be proud of she agreed. But she wasn’t ashamed of what she did. Still it was a put-outer when people shriveled their nose after learning about her profession. As if she reeked! So she didn’t advertise her work much. Clients came in on their own. She had a reputation. Word of mouth was her advertisement.
Namita was one of the best. A little pricey but satisfaction guaranteed. Naturally her clientele list included only a handful. She liked to stick to her regulars. Knowing each other intimately created a comfort zone which she thought was essential. Mutual enjoyment was her mantra. She diligently noted their likes and specially their dislikes. Their preferences for toys. The usual.
It was a little tricky with the fly-by-night customers. It usually meant a day call. She preferred evenings. If the money was good she accepted. But she didn’t compromise with her three-days-a-night policy. In such situations Namita ditched one of her regulars by calling in sick. A little ditching was healthy especially since her work was so damn physically tiring. She only accepted them after seeing their medical certificates. It irked some but she never budged. She didn’t want to pickup something nasty from them. If they wanted her it was on her terms.

My Last Love Story by Falguni Kothari: a promotional tour!

About the Book:
Perfect for fans of JojoMoyes’s, Me Before You, My Last Love Story is a heartbreakingly romantic tale about the complexities of trauma and whether love can right a wrong.

I, Simeen Desai, am tired of making lemonade with the lemons life has handed me.

Love is meant to heal wounds.
Love was meant to make my world sparkle and spin.
Love has ripped my life apart and shattered my soul.

I love my husband, and he loves me.
But Nirvaan is dying.
I love my husband. I want to make him happy.
But he is asking for the impossible.

I don’t want a baby.
I don’t want to make nice with Zayaan.
I don’t want another chance at another love story.

Conversation with Zayaan Khan from My Last Love Story.

Introduce yourself to our readers.

Hey! I’m Zayaan Khan—Zai to my friends. I have two younger sisters and a mother, and we live in London. I’ve come to Carmel-by-the-Sea to be with Nirvaan and also to finish my dissertation in Islamic studies.

You’re a nerd, huh. Then, this question is perfect for you: If you could do something dangerous just once with no risk, what would you do?

Zai: Nirvaan and I have pretty much covered all the risky and dangerous things men can do. As of this moment, I’d try any risky experimental medical procedure on Nirvaan to rid his head of tumors once and for all.

What’s the biggest lie you told in childhood?

Zai: That I love my brother. That he was redeemable in Allah’s eyes.

Which of your ancestors would you most like to meet?

Zai: My eight-times great grandfather who was a Sufi saint. I’d love to meet him and discuss philosophy.

Is it more essential to develop beliefs or gain knowledge?

Zai: Gain knowledge, of course. Belief without knowledge is a waste and an error. Knowledge is reason. Belief can be unreasonable.

Heavy. Let’s end on a fun note, shall we? What’s the most fun party you ever attended?

Zai: My—our—fifteenth birthday party. It was at Dandi Beach back home in Gujarat. It’s where we—Nirvaan and I—met Simi.

And that’s our five questions done. Thanks for being a sport. And I wish you find that experimental procedure for Nirvaan too.

Advance Praise:

At once heartbreaking, delightful and completely unexpected. A must read!
~ SonaliDev, author of The Bollywood Affair

In My Last Love Story, Kothari examines love and loss, desire and desolation, with a deft, wry touch that kept me reading late into the night and moved me to tears.
~ Julia Tagan, author of Stages of Desire

After surviving college, he joined a reputed MNC as a Software Analyst, but a dramatic turn of events made him an author. Toffee is passionate about writing, so much so that he writes code by the day and books by the night and does everything else in life in between. A huge Rajkumar Hirani fan, he loves writing stuff that is both entertaining and insightful. And through his books, he wants to narrate stories that touch people's hearts and change a part of their life, forever.

Toffee’s first book titled ‘An Idiot, Placements and IntervYOU’ was published by the Times Group Books and it went on sell around 5000 copies. ‘Finding Juliet’ is his second book and Juggernaut Books is publishing it exclusively on their mobile app.
